Forceps: Apocalyptic Visions of a Dismal Future.

Poucas bandas me impressionam no cenário do Metal. Eu posso até considerar algumas boas, e outras bacanas por serem bons trabalhadores, mas impressionar é raro.
Eu gosto muito dos climas que essa banda evoca. Com grande maestria, esses caras facilmente conseguem criar o clima pós apocalíptico que as letras evocam. É um caso raro de música, temática, clima, arte do encarte.. todos os elementos unidos em uma única mensagem. Certamente um material inspirador.

Very few bands impress me in the Metal scene. I do think many are good, and admire others for their hardworking, since I'm in the music industry myself but its a rare event for me to be impressed.
I really like the themes that this band uses. With superb skill, they easily create a soundscape that lands you in the post apocalyptic climate that the lyrics evoke. Its a rare case of music, lyrics, ambience and cover art, all gathered together in one single message.

Acceptance?

Talvez a vida seja mais feliz e fácil quando percebermos que está dentro do livre arbítrio o direito de ser ignorante e de não querer ser corrigido. Já pararam pra pensar que é possível que a pessoa "corrigida" esteja satisfeita assim? Você pode ligar e amar, permitindo que o outro seja como deseja. Por vezes, o desejo de corrigir aqueles que são mais próximos nem sempre tem a ver com o outro, mas com nossa própria inabilidade em aceitar que o universo é imperfeito.  Após a aceitação, talvez sua energia fique livre para ser aplicada em outras coisas.

Maybe life gets more easier and happier when we realize that its within the boundaries of free will the right to not know. And to remain like that. Have you ever consider that the "wrong" person is happy the way he/she is? You can show love and care by alowing that the other behaves in the way he so chooses. Often, our desire of correcting those closest has nothing to do with them, but with our own inability in accepting imperfection in the universe. After acceptance, perhaps you get more energy to apply in other areas.

Cynic: Everlasting Inspiration.

Poucos álbuns, e bandas, me inspiraram tanto quanto Cynic. Dentro do metal são únicos.

Very few albuns and bands inspire me as much as Cynic. They are of a unique breed inside metal.

O seu Debut, Focus em particular, me toca de uma maneira que eu não consigo explicar. É sublime, beira o transcedental.  Em 1993 este álbum era transgressão pura dentro do meio. Era Death Metal, mas não era Death Metal. Um divisor de opiniões total. Talvez um modelo a se seguir dentro do Metal?
Em um meio que finge que transgride, mas é extremamente conservador, talvez tenhamos de sair de nossa apatia enquanto músicos e ousar mais.

Their Debut Focus, touch my very soul in a way that is hard to explain. Borders on the transcendental. In 1993 this álbum was pure transgression in the scene. It was Death Metal, but wasn't Death Metal. Maybe a model to follow in metal?
In a scene that pretends to transgress, but its extremely conservative, maybe we have to shake ourselves out of our apathy as musicians. Maybe we have to dare more.

Após pensar um bocado, decidi criar um blog para eternizar minhas aventuras e experiências no mundo do Metal, e escrever sobre as coisas que me inspiraram para criar os conceitos das bandas em que estou envolvido. Este será um blog com temas que aparentemente não se conectam, mas se tiverem paciência, garanto que serão entretidos.

After thinking for a while, I decided to create a blog for chronicling my adventures and experiences in the world of Metal, and to write about all the things that inspired me to create the concepts of the bands that I'm involved. This will be a blog with seemingly unrelated themes, but in the end it will all make sense.
